Wide Tornado Silhouetted by Lightning

This video frame captured by Roger Edwards and Rich Thompson shows a large and growing tornado between Cashion and Abell, OK, on the night of 3 May 1999. Though it looks obvious in this frame, remember that lightning flashes are very fast in real-time. In the absence of power flashes, it may take several minutes of intense observation, with multiple lightning flashes, to establish firm evidence of a night tornado.
