Former National Severe Storms Laboratory field scientist Brian Curran takes measurements of the atmosphere around a severe thunderstorm near Elmore City, OK, on 28 May 1987. This storm intercept was part of the DOPLIGHT-87 (DOPpler and LIGHTning) program to study storm electrification and verify early Doppler radar algorithms.
